Photographic image of Cobá Ball Court
Cobá Ball Court
Our second day in Tulum, Mexico started with a quick swim in an exposed cenote (an underground cave with water), then we started on the road to Cobá an ancient Maya city. But first right out of Tulum, we stopped at another cenote that was less exposed and featured beautiful white caves, stalagmites and such.

Then we were off to Cobá, where we paid the entrance fee of 37 pesos and then rented bikes for 25 pesos - this was a very good deal as the entire site has to be about 3 or 5 miles round trip.

This photo is a view of an Mayan ball court, in the center of the sloping wall, you can see a partial ring where the ball would have had to pass through to score. Players in this court had an easier time as they could get close to the ring, where as at other sites it is high on a vertical wall. There are two ball courts at Cobá.
